There Will Never Be Another You: Remembering Leticia van Riel
Press picture
Leticia van Riel has died. The techno world mourns the manager who built careers from ANNA to Miss Monique and mentored a whole generation of DJs and producers.
The Woman Behind the Sound
The electronic music world has lost one of its most influential figures behind the scenes. Leticia van Riel, artist manager, founder of LvR Management and the force behind some of techno's biggest names, has died. Her passing was publicly confirmed by those closest to her. On her verified Instagram, Miss Monique shared a heartfelt farewell: "You left such a bright mark on my heart. There will never be another you. We will miss you deeply. Rest in peace, my dearest Leticia."ANNA, the artist whose career van Riel helped build, added her own tribute on her story: "I love you forever."
For nearly two decades, van Riel worked the side of the industry most DJs never see. She spent a decade managing ANNA, guiding the Brazilian DJ and producer's rise to international headliner status, and helped build the careers of artists including Victor Ruiz, Bart Skils, Wehbba and VE/RA. Along the way she collaborated with some of the scene's defining names, Richie Hawtin, Mark Knight, UMEK, and most recently managed Sama' Abdulhadi while shaping the career of Miss Monique.
She rarely stood in the spotlight herself, yet her fingerprints were on countless careers — the deals, the routings, the long-term decisions that turn talented DJs into headliners.
A Legacy of Lifting Others
Perhaps her finest legacy lies in what she passed on. With the LvR Mentoring Program for Artists, she guided many up-and-coming DJs and producers, helping them find their footing in an industry that can be hard to break into. Generosity and warmth, the very qualities echoed in the words of farewell from those who knew her best.
Leticia van Riel rarely stood on stage herself. But she made sure others could shine on it. That influence endures.
